Intro to Evening Prayers

with Sashwatadasananda

Saturday, October 2nd

10am-2pm PST / 1pm-5pm EST

This course is a wonderful introduction to the beautiful traditions of Bhakti Marga temple prayers.

In the evening edition, you will be familiarized with the sweet collection of hymns and chants that are sung during the evening puja to the Temple deity.

In this course you will:

  • Learn the meaning of each prayer, why we sing it and where they came from.
  • Become familiar with the melody and proper pronunciation of the prayers.
  • Listen to and practice each prayer as a group.
  • Enrich your experience and understanding of the Bhakti Marga path!

Evening prayers include:

  • Guru stotram
  • 108 names
  • Narasimha Kavacha
  • Hanuman Chalisa
  • Durga Chalisa
  • Guru arati
  • Closing prayers

We will also briefly go over extra prayers devotees should be familiar with such as the Paramahamsa Sri Swami Vishwananda chalisa and Mukunda Mala stotram.

As a part of the first Saturday of the month devotee education series, it is recommended for all Americans. It is also perfect for anyone who would like to be able to fully participate in prayers when going to any of the Bhakti Marga temples, and would like to gain deeper understanding into the prayers themselves.

This course is led by Sashwatadasananda, music teacher and BM USA Music Country Coordinator.
